Being a master

حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا حَرِيزُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ‏:‏ الْكَنُودُ‏:‏ الَّذِي يَمْنَعُ رِفْدَهُ، وَيَنْزِلُ وَحْدَهُ، وَيَضْرِبُ عَبْدَهُ‏.‏
Abu Umama said, "Ingratitude is typified by someone who refuses to give, lives alone, and beats his slave."
