The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{
" إِذَا ضَرَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَتَّقِ اَلْوَجْهَ" } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه ِ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري ( 5 / 182 / فتح )، ومسلم ( 2612 )، واللفظ الذي ذكره الحافظ هو لمسلم، لكنه ملفق من روايتين كل شطر من رواية. وعنده زيادة لفظ: " أخاه" . ولم يقع هذا اللفظ في رواية البخاري. ولكن لفظه:" إذا قاتل أحدكم فليجتنب الوجه" وهو رواية لمسلم مع زيادة اللفظ المذكور آنفا، ومع زيادة أخرى، وهي قوله: " فإن الله خلق آدم على صورته" . وانظر لهذا الحديث" كتاب التوحيد" لإمام الأئمة بتحقيقنا.
Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When one of you is flogging (while inflicting a prescribed punishment) he should avoid the face." Agreed upon.
