Bulugh al-Maram #266
The Book of Prayer
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ عَلَيٍّ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ : { كَانَ لِي مَعَ رَسُولِ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -مَدْخَلَانِ , فَكُنْتُ إِذَا أَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي تَنَحْنَحَ لِي } رَوَاهُ النَّسَائِيُّ , وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ . 11 - ضعيف . بهذا اللفظ ، حسن بلفظ "سبح" بدل "تنحنح" وكنت فصلت القول فيه في تخريجي "لمشكل الآثار " للطحاوي ، الحديث الأول من المجلد الخامس . ثم طبع المشكل بعد تشويه العمل باتفاق لصين كبيرين ؛ أحدهما الناشر والثاني شاهد ومراجع كما تشهد بذلك خطوطهما التي بحوزتي، وعما قريب سيعرف الناس حقيقة الأمر. وإلى الله المشتكى.
Narrated Ali (RA): "I had the permission of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to see him in his house at two times, and whenever I entered to him while he was praying he would clear his throat as a sign to me."
