The Book of Prayer
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ إِذَا قَرَأْتُمْ اَلْفَاتِحَةِ فَاقْرَءُوا : ( بِسْمِ اَللَّهِ اَلرَّحْمَنِ اَلرَّحِيمِ ) , فَإِنَّهَا إِحْدَى آيَاتِهَا } رَوَاهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ , وَصَوَّبَ وَقْفَهُ . 11 - رواه الدارقطني مرفوعا وموقوفا (2/ 312) ، ولفظه : " إذا قرأتم الحمد الله ، فاقرءوا بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم ، إنها أم القرآن ،وأم الكتاب ، والسبع المثاني ، وبسم الله الرحمن الرحيم إحداها" . وقال في "العلل" : (8/149) عن الموقوف : "هو أشبهها بالصواب " .
Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "Whenever you recite Surat Al-Fatiha, recite Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim, for it is one of its Ayat (Verses)."
