The Book of Prayer
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ - رضى الله عنه - { أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -كَانَ إِذَا رَكَعَ فَرَّجَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ , وَإِذَا سَجَدَ ضَمَّ أَصَابِعَهُ } رَوَاهُ اَلْحَاكِمُ . 11 - صحيح . رواه الحاكم (1/224 ) مقتصرا على شطره الأول ، وروى الشطر الثاني (1/227 ) . وقال في الموضوعين : " صحيح على شرط مسلم ".
Narrated Wa'il bin Hujr (RA): Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) bowed, he would spread out his fingers and when he prostrated he would bring his fingers together.
