Bulugh al-Maram #5
The Book of Purification
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: { إِذَا كَانَ اَلْمَاءَ قُلَّتَيْنِ لَمْ يَحْمِلْ اَلْخَبَثَ } وَفِي لَفْظٍ: { لَمْ يَنْجُسْ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْأَرْبَعَةُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ. وَابْنُ حِبَّانَ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه أبو داود (63 و 64 و 65)، والنسائي (1 /46 و175)، والترمذي (67)، وابن ماجه (517)، وهو حديث صحيح، وقد أعل بما لا يقدح. وصححه ابن خزيمة (92)، والحاكم (132)، وابن حبان (1249) .
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (rad): Allah’s Mesenger (ﷺ) said:
“If there is enough water to fill two pots (Qulla), it carries no impurity,” Another version has: “It does not become unclean”.
{Al-Arba’a reported it. Ibn Khuzaima, Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim graded it Sahih (sound)].
