The Book of Prayer

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهَا; { أَنَّ اَلنَّبِيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -كَانَ يَقْصُرُ فِي اَلسَّفَرِ وَيُتِمُّ, وَيَصُومُ وَيُفْطِرُ. } رَوَاهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ, وَرُوَاتُهُ ثِقَاتٌ. إِلَّا أَنَّهُ مَعْلُول ٌ 1 .1 - رواه الدارقطني (2/44/189)، والبيهقي (3/141) من طريق سعيد بن محمد بن ثواب، حدثنا أبو عاصم، حدثنا عمرو بن سعيد، عن عطاء بن أبي رباح، عن عائشة به. وقال الدارقطني: "وهذا إسناد صحيح". قلت: وهو كما قال، فرجاله كلهم ثقات، وابن ثواب، أدخله ابن حبان في: "الثقات" (8/272)، وقال: "مستقيم الحديث". ومع هذا فهو معلول كما قال الحافظ بل قال ابن القيم في "الزاد" (1/464-465): "لا يصح، وسمعت شيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية يقول: هو كذب على رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم".
Narrated 'Aishah (RA): While on a journey, the Prophet (ﷺ) used to shorten the prayer (sometimes) and offer it completely (sometimes). Similarly, he used to observe fast (sometimes) and break it (sometimes).
