The Book of Prayer
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { مَضَتِ السُّنَّةُ أَنَّ فِي كُلِّ أَرْبَعِينَ فَصَاعِدًا جُمُعَةً } رَوَاهُ اَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ بِإِسْنَادٍ ضَعِيف ٍ 1 .1 - موضوع. رواه الدارقطني (2/3-4/1) وفي سنده عبد العزيز بن عبد الرحمن القرشي، قال عنه ابن حبان في "المجروحين" (2/138): "يأتي بالمقلوبات عن الثقات فيكثر، والملزقات بالأثبات فيفحش، لا يحل الاحتجاج به بحال". كما أنه أورد له هذا الحديث أيضا في ترجمته. وبذلك تعرف أن قول الحافظ: بإسناد ضعيف فيه تسامح.
Narrated Jabir (RA): It is decided in the Sunnah that the Friday prayer (established/recognized) when forty praying persons or more attend it.
