Bulugh al-Maram #618
The Book of Prayer

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: { خَرَجَ اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -مُتَوَاضِعًا, مُتَبَذِّلًا, مُتَخَشِّعًا, مُتَرَسِّلًا, مُتَضَرِّعًا, فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ, كَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي اَلْعِيدِ, لَمْ يَخْطُبْ خُطْبَتَكُمْ هَذِهِ } رَوَاهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ, وَأَبُو عَوَانَةَ, وَابْنُ حِبَّانَ 1 .1 - حسن. رواه أبو داود (1165)، والنسائي (3/163)، والترمذي (558 و 559)، وابن ماجه (1266) وأحمد (1/230 و 269 و 355)، وابن حبان (2862). وقال الترمذي: "حديث حسن صحيح". والتبذل: ترك التزين والتهيؤ بالهيئة الحسنة الجميلة على جهة التواضع. والترسل: التأني في المشي، وعدم العجلة.
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (RA): Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out (of al-Madinah, to pray for rain) humbling (himself), wearing rough clothes, submissive, walking slowly, supplicating (Allah). Then, he offered two Rak'at in the same way he prayed 'Eid, but did not deliver your kind of Khutbah (religious talk, sermon).
