Funerals
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { سَمِعْتُ اَلنَّبِيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَقُولُ:
"لَا تُغَالُوا فِي اَلْكَفَنِ, فَإِنَّهُ يُسْلُبُ سَرِيعًا" } رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ 1 .1 - ضعيف. رواه أبو داود (3154).
‘AIi (RAA) narrated, ‘l heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “Do not be extravagant in shrouding (i.e. do not spend too much money on them) for it will decay quickly.” Related by Abu Dawud.
