The Book of Zakah

وَعَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ اَلْمَسْأَلَةُ كَدٌّ يَكُدُّ بِهَا اَلرَّجُلُ وَجْهَهُ, إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْأَلَ اَلرَّجُلُ سُلْطَانًا, أَوْ فِي أَمْرٍ لَا بُدَّ مِنْهُ } رَوَاهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَصَحَّحَهُ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه الترمذي ( 681 )، وقال: حسن صحيح.
Samurah bin Jundub (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “begging is like a scratch with which a man scratches his face; unless one is asking the ruler or in the case of dire necessity.” Related by At-Tirmidhi, who regarded it as Sahih.
