The Book of Zakah

وَعَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ اَلْمَسْأَلَةُ كَدٌّ يَكُدُّ بِهَا اَلرَّجُلُ وَجْهَهُ, إِلَّا أَنْ يَسْأَلَ اَلرَّجُلُ سُلْطَانًا, أَوْ فِي أَمْرٍ لَا بُدَّ مِنْهُ } رَوَاهُ اَلتِّرْمِذِيُّ وَصَحَّحَهُ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه الترمذي ( 681 )‏، وقال: حسن صحيح.‏
Samurah bin Jundub (RAA) narrated that The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “begging is like a scratch with which a man scratches his face; unless one is asking the ruler or in the case of dire necessity.” Related by At-Tirmidhi, who regarded it as Sahih.
