Sahih

The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

"I met Thawban the freed slave of Allah's Messenger (S) and said to him, 'Guide me to a deed by which Allah benefit me, and for which Allah will admit me into Paradise.' He was silent for quite a while, then he turned to me and said: 'Perform prostrations, for I heard Allah's Messenger (S) saying: 'No worshipper performs a prostration to Allah except that by it, Allah will raise him a level, and erase a sin from him for it.'"

Context

Ma'dan bin Talhah Al Yamari recounts a conversation with Thawban, the freed slave of the Prophet ﷺ, who advised him to perform prostrations as a means of gaining Allah's favor. The Prophet ﷺ emphasized that each prostration raises a person's rank and expiates sins, highlighting the spiritual benefits of this act.

Modern Application

Incorporating more prostrations into our daily Salah can be a powerful way to seek forgiveness and elevate our spiritual status. This hadith encourages us to be mindful of the significance of each prostration and its impact on our relationship with Allah.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Paradise and Prayer because it connects the act of prostration to spiritual elevation and forgiveness, which are essential elements in seeking Paradise.
