Mishkat al-Masabih #1113
Prayer
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْهَا قَالَتْ: مَا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ قَطُّ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ إِلَّا صلى أَربع رَكْعَات أَو سِتّ رَكْعَات. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد
She said that God’s Messenger never came into her house after praying the evening prayer without praying four or six rak'as.
Abu Dawud transmitted it.
