Prescribed Punishments

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا تُقطعُ يدُ السَّارِقِ إِلاَّ بربُعِ دِينَار فَصَاعِدا»
‘A’isha reported the Prophet as saying, “A thief’s hand should be cut off only for a quarter of a dinar and upwards.”
(Bukhari and Muslim).
