Clothing
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَن عَليّ قَالَ: نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمَيَاثِرِ. رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ مَاجَهْ وَفِي رِوَايَة لأبي دَاوُد قَالَ: نهى عَن مياثر الأرجوان
‘Ali said God’s messenger forbade him to wear a gold ring, or a Qassi garment, or to use saddle-cloths.
Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah transmitted it. In a version by Abu Dawud he said he forbade purple saddle-cloths.
