Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “The ancient prophetical sunna (The Arabic word is fitra. Its basic meaning is the manner in which one is created. It is also used for the religion of Islam. But in this tradition the meaning is said to be the sunna followed by the prophets from of old, and therefore it is translated above in accordance with this explanation) has five characteristics : circumcision, shaving with a razor, clipping the moustache, paring the nails, and plucking out hairs under the armpit.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)
