Mishkat al-Masabih #432
Purification
The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ: أَنَّ فِي الْكِتَابِ الَّذِي كَتَبَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسلم لعَمْرو بن حزم: «أَن لَا يَمَسَّ الْقُرْآنَ إِلَّا طَاهِرٌ» . رَوَاهُ مَالِكٌ وَالدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ
‘Abdallah b. Abu Bakr b. Muhammad b. ‘Amr b. Hazm said that the letter sent by God's messenger to ‘Amr b. Hazm contained the words, “Only one who is pure must touch the Qur’an.”
Malik and Daraqutni transmitted it.
