Sahih Muslim #2359

The Book of Zakat
Sahih

The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

This very hadith has been narrated on the authority of Sbu'ba with the same chain of transmitters.

Context

This hadith discusses the principle of not consuming charity, specifically the prohibition against eating from the sadaqa (charity) given to others. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) emphasized this to maintain the dignity of both the giver and the receiver, ensuring that charity serves its intended purpose of helping those in need without any personal gain for the one who gives.

Modern Application

In today's society, understanding the significance of charity can encourage individuals to give selflessly without expecting anything in return. This principle can inspire acts of kindness and generosity, fostering a culture of support and compassion within communities.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Hadith Transmission because it highlights the importance of the chain of narrators in preserving the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
