The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

You would be no more among men (on the Day of Resurrection) but like a white hair on (the body of) a black ox, or like a black hair on (the body of) a white ox, and he made no mention of: a strip on the foreleg of an ass.

Context

In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) uses a metaphor to describe the insignificance of his followers on the Day of Resurrection compared to the vastness of humanity. He likens them to a white hair on a black ox or vice versa. This imagery serves to illustrate the challenges faced by the Muslim community and the importance of unity and strength in faith.

Modern Application

In today's context, this hadith serves as a reminder for Muslims to remain united and strong in their faith despite being a minority in many societies. It encourages believers to support one another and work together for the common good.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Community because it emphasizes the position of the Muslim community in relation to the larger society.
