حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ طَعَامُ الاِثْنَيْنِ كَافِي الثَّلاَثَةِ وَطَعَامُ الثَّلاَثَةِ كَافِي الأَرْبَعَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
Food for two persons suffices three persons and food for three persons suffices four persons.
Narrated by Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

Context

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stated that food prepared for two people is sufficient for three, and food for three is sufficient for four. This hadith illustrates the blessings associated with sharing and the abundance that can arise from generosity.

سُورَةُ الصَّافَّاتِ
As-Saaffaat (Those drawn up in Ranks)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1 ayah
فَإِنَّهُمْ لَءَاكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
سُورَةُ الدُّخَانِ
Ad-Dukhaan (The Smoke)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1 ayah
طَعَامُ ٱلْأَثِيمِ
Is food for the sinful.
سُورَةُ صٓ
Saad (The letter Saad)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1 ayah
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُۥ مِن نَّفَادٍ
Indeed, this is Our provision; for it there is no depletion.
