Funerals (Kitab Al-Jana'iz)

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ شَدَّادٍ - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنِي بَابُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ، مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ لاَ تُتْبَعُ الْجَنَازَةُ بِصَوْتٍ وَلاَ نَارٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ زَادَ هَارُونُ ‏"‏ وَلاَ يُمْشَى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏
The Prophet (said) said: A bier should not be followed by a loud voice (of wailing) or fire. Abu Dawud said: Harun (one of the narrators) added: "And it should not be preceded (with those) either."

There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of Allah a destiny decreed.
