The Book of the Prayer for the Two 'Eids
Sahih

The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in praying on 'Eid before the Khutbah, with no Adhan and no Iqamah."
Narrated by It was narrated that Jabir said:

Context

In this hadith, Jabir narrates that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led the Eid prayer before the sermon without the usual Adhan or Iqamah. This highlights a specific practice during Eid, emphasizing the importance of the prayer itself over the formalities typically associated with congregational prayers. The takeaway is the significance of the Eid prayer as a communal act of worship.

Modern Application

Today, many Muslims participate in Eid prayers in large congregations, often in open spaces. This hadith reminds us that the essence of the prayer is paramount, and while traditions like the Adhan enhance the experience, the focus should remain on the act of worship itself.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Prayer because it discusses the practice of leading the Eid prayer without the usual formalities.
