أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ هَانِئٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حُذَيْفَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ الثَّقَفِيِّ، قَالَ قَدِمَ وَفْدُ ثَقِيفٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَعَهُمْ هَدِيَّةٌ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ أَهَدِيَّةٌ أَمْ صَدَقَةٌ فَإِنْ كَانَتْ هَدِيَّةً فَإِنَّمَا يُبْتَغَى بِهَا وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَقَضَاءُ الْحَاجَةِ وَإِنْ كَانَتْ صَدَقَةً فَإِنَّمَا يُبْتَغَى بِهَا وَجْهُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا لاَ بَلْ هَدِيَّةٌ ‏.‏ فَقَبِلَهَا مِنْهُمْ وَقَعَدَ مَعَهُمْ يُسَائِلُهُمْ وَيُسَائِلُونَهُ حَتَّى صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ مَعَ الْعَصْرِ ‏.‏

"The delegation of Thaqif came to the Messenger of Allah, bringing a gift with them. He said: 'Is it a gift or charity?' If it was a gift it would be for the sake of the Messenger of Allah and to have their needs met, and if it was charity then it would be in the cause of Allah. They said: 'It is a gift.' So he accepted it from them, and sat with them, and they asked questions, until he prayed Zuhr with 'Asr."

سُورَةُ المُجَادلَةِ

Al-Mujaadila (The Pleading Woman)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1 ayah

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَةًۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ ۚ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌ

O you who have believed, when you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, present before your consultation a charity. That is better for you and purer. But if you find not [the means] - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

سُورَةُ النَّمۡلِ

An-Naml (The Ant)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

1 ayah

وَإِنِّى مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٍۢ فَنَاظِرَةٌۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ ٱلْمُرْسَلُونَ

But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return."

سُورَةُ النِّسَاءِ

An-Nisaa (The Women)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ إِذ ظَّلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ جَآءُوكَ فَٱسْتَغْفَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ لَوَجَدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ تَوَّابًۭا رَّحِيمًۭا

And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah. And if, when they wronged themselves, they had come to you, [O Muhammad], and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Accepting of repentance and Merciful.

سُورَةُ الحَشۡرِ

Al-Hashr (The Exile)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

مَّآ أَفَآءَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْقُرَىٰ فَلِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَٱبْنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ كَىْ لَا يَكُونَ دُولَةًۢ بَيْنَ ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ مِنكُمْ ۚ وَمَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمُ ٱلرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَىٰكُمْ عَنْهُ فَٱنتَهُوا۟ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

And what Allah restored to His Messenger from the people of the towns - it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and orphans and the [stranded] traveler - so that it will not be a perpetual distribution among the rich from among you. And whatever the Messenger has given you - take; and what he has forbidden you - refrain from. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
