Sunan Ibn Majah #750

Establishing the Prayer and the Sunnah Regarding Them

The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever eats anything from this plant, let him not come to the mosque.’”
Narrated by It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:

Context

In this narration, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) advises that once the Iqamah has been called, no prayer should be performed except for the obligatory one. This emphasizes the significance of the Iqamah as a signal for the commencement of the congregational prayer.

Modern Application

This principle is relevant today as it teaches the importance of focusing on the obligatory prayers and not engaging in non-obligatory acts once the call to prayer is made. It encourages individuals to prioritize their spiritual obligations.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Prayer because it emphasizes the significance of the Iqamah and the focus on obligatory prayers during congregational worship.
