God exalted be He says Then disregard them leave them be and say ‘Peace!’ I will stay away from you — this was revealed before he was commanded to fight them. For they will soon come to know ya‘lamūna may also be read as second person plural ta‘lamūna ‘you will come to know’ meant to threaten them.

I tell you that the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) said: Allow them; yet you say; we shall not allow them.

Sahih Muslim #5508Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:Sahih

When the Jews offer you salutations, some of them say as-Sam-u-'Alaikum (death be upon you). You should say (in response to it): Let it be upon you.
