The dead is punished because of the lamentation of the living.

Jami` at-Tirmidhi #2050' Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:Sahih

"Do not vilify the dead (and) by that harm the living."

Sahih Muslim #6707Anas reported from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (this suppli- cation) but with this variation that these words are not found in that supplication:Sahih

" From the trial of life and death."
