And He will remove the rage the grief in their hearts. God turns in forgiveness to whomever He will when they return to Islam as in the case of Abū Sufyān. And God is Knowing Wise.

Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger (ﷺ) said: 0 Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience.

Jami` at-Tirmidhi #2563Sahl bin Mu'ad bin Anas narrated from his father, that the Prophet (s.a.w) said:Da'if

"Whoever suppresses his rage, while he is able to exact it, Allah will call him before the heads of creation so that he can chose whichever of the Hur he wishes."

So he stood and performed ablution; he then returned and performed ablution, and said: My father told me on the authority of my grandfather Atiyyah who reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: Anger comes from the devil, the devil was created of fire, and fire is extinguished only with water; so when one of you becomes angry, he should perform ablution.
