Tafsir Al-Jalalayn: Ash-Shu'araa, Ayah 136

قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

Al-Jalalayn Commentary

They said ‘It is the same to us whether you admonish us or are not one of those who admonish anyway. In other words we will not heed your admonition.

Scholars offer complementary perspectives

(They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest) you warn us (or art not of those who preach) or you are a warner to us;

"Whichever of these you do, it will suffice."

"Dinar for Dinar Dirham for Dirham, no difference between them."

“Teeth are all the same; the incisor and the molar are the same.”

“The fingers are the same.”
