Tafsir Al-Jalalayn: As-Saaffaat, Ayah 68

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

Al-Jalalayn Commentary

Then indeed their return shall be to Hell-fire — this suggests that they exit from it only to drink the boiling water which is located outside it.

Scholars offer complementary perspectives

(And afterward, lo! their return) their destination (is surely unto hell) the middle of hell.

People will come forth from Hell by Muhammad’s intercession, will enter paradise and be named Jahannamis.
