Tafsir Al-Jalalayn: Al-Qalam, Ayah 50

فَٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَجَعَلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ

And his Lord chose him and made him of the righteous.

Al-Jalalayn Commentary

But his Lord chose him for prophethood and made him one of the righteous the prophets.

Scholars offer diverse perspectives

(But his Lord chose him) to make repentance (and placed him among the righteous) among the messengers.

'The Messenger of Allah said: ''Ammar- no two things were shown to him but he chose the better of the two.''
