Al-Ma'aarij · Ayah 44 · View Ayah
خَٰشِعَةً أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.

Al-Jalalayn Commentary

with their eyes humbled abject overcast by abasement shrouded in it. Such is the day which they are promised dhālika is the subject and what follows it is the predicate meaning the Day of Resurrection.

(With eyes) that see no goodness (aghast) humiliated, (abasement stupefying them) grief and darkness appear on their faces: (Such is the Day which they are promised) such is the Day in which they were promised chastisement; and this day is the Day of Judgement.
