Tafsir Ibn Abbas: An-Nahl, Ayah 104
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَا يَهْدِيهِمُ ٱللَّهُ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Indeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allah - Allah will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.

Narrated by Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the hypocrites behaved in this way that when Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) set out for a battle, they kept themselves behind, and they became happy that they had managed to sit in the house contrary to (the act of) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), and when Allah's Apostle (may peace he upon him) came back, they put forward excuses and took oath and wished that people should laud them for the deeds which they had not done. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed:

The verse: "Those who invoke not with Allah" applied to polytheists. He said: About them another verse, "Say: O my servants who have transgressed against their souls" was also revealed.
Narrated by The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Sa'id b. Jubair from Ibn 'Abbas through a different chain of narrators. Ibn 'Abbas said:
Ibn Abbas Commentary
(Lo! those who disbelieve the revelations of Allah) i.e. Muhammad (pbuh) and the Qur'an, (Allah guideth them not) to His religion, i.e. He does not guide those who do not deserve to be guided; it is also said that this means: He does not guide them to the right proof nor save them from the Fire (and theirs will be a painful doom) a severe chastisement.
