Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Taa-Haa, Ayah 122
ثُمَّ ٱجْتَبَٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَدَىٰ
Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him].

Thereafter his Lord chose him He brought him close to Him and relented to him He accepted his repentance and guided him that is He guided him to seek repentance regularly.

"O Allah, guide him," and (the child) went to his father.
Narrated by It was narrated from 'Abdul-Hamid bin Salamah Al-Ansari, from his father, from his grandfather, that he became Muslim but his wife refused to become Muslim. A young son of theirs, who had not yet reached puberty, came, and the Prophet seated the father on one side and the mother on the other side, and he gave him the choice. He said:

While a person was going along the path he found a thorny branch upon it. He pushed it to a side and Allah approved (this action) of his and (as a mark of appreciation) granted him pardon.
Narrated by Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

"He turned around his cloak, putting its right side on his left shoulder and its left side on his right shoulder. Thereafter he made supplication to Allah."
Narrated by The above-mentioned tradition has also been transmitted by Muhammad b. Muslim through a different chain of narrators. But there is no mention of prayer in this version. The version adds:
Jami` at-Tirmidhi#2026Hasan
"When a man was walking on the road, he found a thorny branch and removed it. Allah appreciated his action by forgiving him."
Narrated by Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said :

(Then his Lord chose him) by means of repentance, (and relented towards him) He overlooked his sin, (and guided him) to repentance.
