Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Aal-i-Imraan, Ayah 150

بَلِ ٱللَّهُ مَوْلَىٰكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلنَّٰصِرِينَ

But Allah is your protector, and He is the best of helpers.

Ibn Abbas Commentary

(But Allah is your Protector) He preserves you and will make you triumphant against them, (and He is the best of helpers) He is the strongest of helpers.

“O Allah, You are my `Aḍud and You are my Helper, and by You do I fight (Allāhumma anta `aḍudī, wa anta naṣīrī, wa bika uqātil).”

Narrated by Anas narrated that when the Prophet (ﷺ) would go out for an expedition, he would say:

“Allah and His Messenger are the guardians of the one who has no guardian, and the maternal uncle is the heir of one who has no other heir.”

Narrated by It was narrated from Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif that a man shot an arrow at another man and killed him, and he had no heir except a maternal uncle. Abu ‘Ubaidah bin Jarrah wrote to ‘Umar about that, and ‘Umar wrote back to him saying that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

"Rather, Allah support this Ummah because of their supplication, their Salah, and their sincerity."

Narrated by It was narrated from Mus'ab bin Sa'd, from his father, that he thought he was better than other Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Narrated by Ibn 'Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:

When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went on an expedition, he said: O Allah, Thou art my aider and helper; by Thee I move, by Thee I attack, and by Thee I fight.
