Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Adh-Dhaariyat, Ayah 48

وَٱلْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَٰهَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْمَٰهِدُونَ

And the earth We have spread out, and excellent is the preparer.

Ibn Abbas Commentary

(And the earth have We laid out) on water, (how gracious was the Spreader (thereof)!

Scholars offer complementary perspectives

And the earth We spread it out We made it level what excellent Spreaders then! We are.

“Dig the grave deep, make it spacious and prepare it well.”
