خَافِضَةٌۭ رَّافِعَةٌ
It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

Scholars offer complementary perspectives
it will be abasing some exalting others that is it will manifest the abasing of some people by virtue of their admission into the Fire and manifest the exalting of others by their admission into Paradise.
Ibn Abbas Commentary
(Abasing (some)) due to their own works and, thus, sends them to the Fire, (exalting (others)) due to their own works and, thus, sends to the Garden. It is also said it is called the Event because of its sound which will be heard by the near and the far;
