حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي بَقِيعِ الْغَرْقَدِ فِي جَنَازَةٍ فَقَالَ " مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ كُتِبَ مَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَمَقْعَدُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ ". فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَلاَ نَتَّكِلُ فَقَالَ " اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ ". ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى * وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {لِلْعُسْرَى}
We were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) in a funeral procession at Baqi Al-Gharqad. He said, "There is
none of you but has his place written for him in Paradise or in the Hell- Fire." They said, "O Allah's
Apostle! Shall we depend (on this fact and give up work)?" He said, "Carry on doing (good deeds), for
every body will find it easy to do (what will lead him to his destined place)." Then he recited:
'As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah, and believes in the Best reward from
Allah (i.e. Allah will compensate him for what he will spend in Allah's way). So, We will make
smooth for him the path of ease. But he who is a greedy miser....for him, the path for evil.' (92.5-10)

Context
During a funeral procession, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ informed his companions that each person's place in Paradise or Hell has already been determined. When questioned about whether they should stop working, he urged them to continue doing good deeds, as everyone will find it easy to follow the path leading to their destined place. This hadith underscores the significance of striving for righteousness and the balance between faith and action.

But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally.
And it is not [possible] for one to die except by permission of Allah at a decree determined. And whoever desires the reward of this world - We will give him thereof; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter - We will give him thereof. And we will reward the grateful.
It is that of which Allah gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muhammad], "I do not ask you for this message any payment [but] only good will through kinship." And whoever commits a good deed - We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative.
Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account.
