A group of people from `Ukl (tribe) came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and they were living with the people of As-
Suffa, but they became ill as the climate of Medina did not suit them, so they said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)!
Provide us with milk." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, I see no other way for you than to use the camels of Allah's
Apostle." So they went and drank the milk and urine of the camels, (as medicine) and became healthy
and fat. Then they killed the shepherd and took the camels away. When a help-seeker came to Allah's
Apostle, he sent some men in their pursuit, and they were captured and brought before mid day. The
Prophet ordered for some iron pieces to be made red hot, and their eyes were branded with them and
their hands and feet were cut off and were not cauterized. Then they were put at a place called Al-
Harra, and when they asked for water to drink they were not given till they died. (Abu Qilaba said,
"Those people committed theft and murder and fought against Allah and His Apostle.")

Context
This hadith recounts a troubling incident where a group from the tribe of `Ukl, after initially seeking help from the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), turned against him by committing theft and murder. The Prophet (ﷺ) responded with severe punishment, which serves as a reminder of the consequences of betrayal and wrongdoing.
Modern Application
In contemporary society, this story can remind us of the importance of trust and the serious repercussions of betrayal. Upholding integrity in our actions and relationships is crucial for maintaining a harmonious community.
Topics
This hadith is tagged with Divine Justice and Punishments (Hudud) because it illustrates the severe consequences of betrayal and crime as enacted by the Prophet (ﷺ) in response to the actions of the offenders.
They are the ones who disbelieved and obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram while the offering was prevented from reaching its place of sacrifice. And if not for believing men and believing women whom you did not know - that you might trample them and there would befall you because of them dishonor without [your] knowledge - [you would have been permitted to enter Makkah]. [This was so] that Allah might admit to His mercy whom He willed. If they had been apart [from them], We would have punished those who disbelieved among them with painful punishment
So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers."
They have been put under humiliation [by Allah] wherever they are overtaken, except for a covenant from Allah and a rope from the Muslims. And they have drawn upon themselves anger from Allah and have been put under destitution. That is because they disbelieved in the verses of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.
And they say, "These animals and crops are forbidden; no one may eat from them except whom we will," by their claim. And there are those [camels] whose backs are forbidden [by them] and those upon which the name of Allah is not mentioned - [all of this] an invention of untruth about Him. He will punish them for what they were inventing.
This hadith is #6558 from Sahih al-Bukhari, in the Book of Limits and Punishments set by Allah (Hudood). It is graded Sahih and narrated by Narrated Anas:.
