The Arabic includes the chain of narration (sanad) and the collector's commentary; the English translation shows the Prophet's words only.

It is a Sadaqa for her and a gift for us.
Narrated by 'A'isha reported that (once) the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him, ) was presented with beef. It was said (by someone) that it had been given to Barira as Sadaqa. Upon this he (the Prophet) said:

Context

In this hadith, 'A'isha narrates an incident where the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was presented with beef that had been given as Sadaqa (charity) for Barira. The Prophet (ﷺ) clarified that while it was a form of charity for her, it was considered a gift for him and his companions. This highlights the distinction between Sadaqa and gifts in Islamic practice.

Modern Application

This principle is relevant today as it encourages Muslims to understand the nature of their charitable acts. When giving Sadaqa, one can also appreciate the joy of sharing and receiving gifts, fostering a sense of community and support among individuals.

Topics

This hadith is tagged with Charity because it illustrates the dual nature of charitable acts and gifts, emphasizing the importance of intention in giving.
