as a grace ni‘matan is a verbal noun that is to say in‘āman ‘an act of grace’ from Us. So like that requital do We requite him who gives thanks for Our graces and is a believer or it means him who is a believer in God and His messenger and is obedient to both.

“A grateful eater will have a reward like that of a patient fasting person.”

Jami` at-Tirmidhi #2102Jabir narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said:Sahih

"Whoever is given a gift, then if he finds something let him reciprocate. If he has nothing, then let him mention some praise. For whoever has mentioned some praise, then he has expressed his gratitude. And whoever refrains (from doing so) then he has committed Kufr. And whoever pretends to be satisfied by that which he was not given, he is like the one who wears a garment of falsehood."

Sahih Muslim #2369Anas b. Malik reported that Barira presented to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) a piece of meat which had been given to her as sadaqa. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said:Sahih

That is a Sadaqa for her and a gift for us.

Sunan Abu Dawud #4815Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:Da'if

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If someone is given something, he should give a return for it provided he can afford; if he cannot afford, he should praise him. He who praises him for it, thanks him, and he who conceals it is ungrateful to him. Abu Dawud said: It has been transmitted by Yahya b. Ayyub, from `Umarah b. Ghaziyyah, from Sharahbil on the authority of Jabir. Abu Dawud said: In the chain of this tradition `Umarah b. Ghaziyyah said: A man from my tribe said. The man referred by him is Sharahbil. It is likely that they disliked him and, therefore, they did not name him.

Sahih Muslim #2370'A'isha reported that (once) the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him, ) was presented with beef. It was said (by someone) that it had been given to Barira as Sadaqa. Upon this he (the Prophet) said:Sahih
