وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ إِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحُمَّى مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ فَابْرُدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
Fever is due to vehemence of the heat of Hell, so cool it with water.
Narrated by Ibn Umar reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying:

Context

In this hadith, Ibn Umar narrates a statement from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regarding fever. The Prophet likens the intensity of fever to the heat of Hell and advises that it should be cooled with water.
