This hadith from Sunan Abu Dawud (Book of Clothing (Kitab Al-Libas)), narrated by Ikrimah said that he saw Ibn Abbas putting on lower garment, letting the hem on the top of his foot and raising it behind. He said:, states: "Why do you put on the lower garment in this way? He replied: It is how I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) do it."

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَحْيَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَأْتَزِرُ فَيَضَعُ حَاشِيَةَ إِزَارِهِ مِنْ مُقَدَّمِهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ قَدَمَيْهِ وَيَرْفَعُ مِنْ مُؤَخَّرِهِ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ لِمَ تَأْتَزِرُ هَذِهِ الإِزْرَةَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْتَزِرُهَا ‏.‏
