Establishing the Prayer and the Sunnah Regarding Them

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمِّي، إِيَاسَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ، يَقُولُ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ‏{فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ}‏ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏"‏ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي رُكُوعِكُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ‏{سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى}‏ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏"‏ اجْعَلُوهَا فِي سُجُودِكُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏
“When the following was revealed: ‘So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great’, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to us: ‘Say this in your Ruku’.’ And when the following was revealed: ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High.’ the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to us: ‘Say this in your prostrations.’”

Context

This hadith recounts an important instruction from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regarding the recitation of specific verses during prayer. When the verses 'So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most Great' and 'Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High' were revealed, he guided the companions to incorporate these praises into their Ruku' and Sujud, respectively, highlighting the significance of glorifying Allah during prayer.

Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
سُورَةُ الحِجۡرِ
Al-Hijr (The Rock)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
1 ayah
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].
