وَمَن جَآءَ بِٱلسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِى ٱلنَّارِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Wa man jaaa'a bissai yi'ati fakubbat wujoohuhum fin Naari hal tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon
And whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?"

Scholars offer complementary perspectives
And whoever brings an evil deed namely the ascribing of partners to God their faces shall be thrust into the Fire having been oriented towards it — ‘faces’ are specifically mentioned here because of all the sensory organs it is where a person’s dignity resides and so other parts of the body are more deserving of punishment. It shall be said to them in reproach ‘Are you requited except the requital for what you used to do?’ in the way of idolatry and acts of disobedience.

Allah will speak with everyone amongst you without any interpreter between them. He (the man) would see towards his right and would not find anything but (the deeds) which he had done before, and he would see towards the left and would not find anything but (the deeds) which he had done before. He would see in front of him and would find nothing but Fire just before his face. So protect (yourselves) against Fire even if it is with the help of half a date. A hadith like this has been transmitted by Khaithama and addition has been made in this of (these words) ;" Even if it is with a good word."
"I was with the Prophet (ﷺ) when this Ayah was revealed to him: Whoever works evil will have the recompense of it (4:123). So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Abu Bakr! Shall I recite to you an Ayah revealed to me?' I said: 'Of course O Messenger of Allah!' So he recited it to me, and I do not know except that I found it as a fatal blow, but I repressed it. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'What is bothering you O Abu Bakr?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! May my father and my mother be your ransom! Which of us has not done evil - and yet we shall be recompensed for what we have done?' So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'As for you O Abu Bakr, and the believers, they will be recompensed for that in the world until they meet Allah and they have no sins. As for the others, then that will be collected for them until they are recompensed for it on the Day of Judgement.'"
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who is two-faced in this world will have two tongues of fire on the Day of Resurrection.
While we were sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ) who had a stick with which he was scraping the earth, he
lowered his head and said, "There is none of you but has his place assigned either in the Fire or in
Paradise." Thereupon a man from the people said, "Shall we not depend upon this, O Allah's
Apostle?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No, but carry on and do your deeds, for everybody finds it easy to do
such deeds (as will lead him to his place)." The Prophet (ﷺ) then recited the Verse: 'As for him who gives
(in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah..' (92.5)
