“The Messenger of Allah
(ﷺ)
led his Companions in prayer one day. When he had finished
prayer he
turned to face the people and said: ‘What is wrong with some
people
that they lift their gaze to the heavens?’ He spoke severely
concerning that: ‘They should certainly abstain from that or Allah
will snatch away their sight.’”
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "What is the matter with people who lift their gaze to the sky when praying?" And he spoke sternly concerning that until he said: "They must stop that or they will certainly lose their eyesight."
People raise there eyes towards him, and in the hadith narrated by Hammam: The believers raise their eyes towards him, and such like words, so long as he plunders (is not) a believer, and these words were added: And no exploiter who makes an exploitation is a believer as long as he exploits It; therefore avoid and shun (these evils).
Between them and their faith.
“I said: ‘I will look at
the
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and see how he performs the prayer.’ He
stood up and faced the Qiblah, and raised his hands until they were
parallel to his ears. When he bowed, he raised them likewise, and
when
he raised his head from Ruku’, he raised them likewise.”

And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith].
And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me.
And fear a Day when no soul will suffice for another soul at all, nor will intercession be accepted from it, nor will compensation be taken from it, nor will they be aided.
And [recall] when We gave Moses the Scripture and criterion that perhaps you would be guided.
And We did certainly give Moses the Torah and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed.
And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them - although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers.
