The moon was cleft asunder while we were in the company of the Prophet, and it became two parts.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, Witness, witness (this miracle).
When you see the new moon, observe fast, and when you see it (again) then break it, and if the sky is cloudy for you, then calculate it.
"The moon was cleft asunder during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said to us: 'Bear witness.'"
We were talking about Lailat-ul-Qadr in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said: He who amongst you remembers (the night) when the moon arose and it was like a piece of plate (at the fag end of the month in a state of waning).
