Tafsir
(He is only a man) they mean the Messenger is only a man (who hath invented a lie about Allah) in that which he says. (We are not going to put faith in him) we are not going to believe what he says.

That (the Holy Prophet) did not say that he had no concern but said: He is not one of us.
“He is not one of us who tears his garments, strikes his cheeks, and cries with the cry of the Days of Ignorance.’”
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: He who swears by Amanah (faithfulness) is not one of us.
‘Yahyā bin Abī Unaysah was a liar’.

(and he was not a liar) When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah" none of us bent his back (for prostration) till the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated and then we would prostrate after him...
"Eisa bin Maryam saw a man stealing and said: 'Did you steal?' He said: 'No, by the One besides Whom there is no other God.' 'Eisa said: 'I believe in Allah, and I do not believe what my eyes see.'"
‘Whoever carries arms against us then he is not from us’. said ‘Amr lied, by Allah. Rather he intended it as a way to permit his filthy opinion.’
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The worst lie is that a person claims to have seen a dream which he has not seen."
Al-Jalalayn Commentary
He is the Messenger is just a man who has invented a lie against God and we will not believe in him’ we will not accept the truth of resurrection after death.
