Tafsir Ibn Abbas: Al-Baqara, Ayah 12
أَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَٰكِن لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.

Scholars offer diverse perspectives
Truly a-lā ‘truly’ is for alerting intended emphatically they are the agents of corruption but they perceive this not.
Ibn Abbas Commentary
(They are indeed the mischief mongers) by being a hindrance. (But they perceive not): the followers do not know that their leaders mislead them.
