Sunan Abu Dawud #4852

General Behavior (Kitab Al-Adab)
Sahih

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا صَلَّى الْفَجْرَ تَرَبَّعَ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ حَسْنَاءَ ‏.‏
When the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed the dawn prayer, he sat cross-legged where he was till the sun had come well up.
Narrated by Jabir b. Samurah said:

Context

Jabir b. Samurah narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would sit cross-legged after the Fajr prayer until the sun rose. This practice reflects the Prophet's (ﷺ) patience and mindfulness, emphasizing the importance of reflection and gratitude after prayer.

And when you have completed the prayer, remember Allah standing, sitting, or [lying] on your sides. But when you become secure, re-establish [regular] prayer. Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times.

Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had not made against it any shield.
