Tafsir Ibn Abbas: An-Nahl, Ayah 58

An-Nahl · Ayah 58 · View Ayah
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُۥ مُسْوَدًّۭا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌۭ
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.

Ibn Abbas Commentary

(When if one of them receiveth tidings of the birth of a female, his face remaineth darkened) with grief, (and he is wroth inwardly) grief stricken and is inwardly devastated.
